Guide to Finding the Perfect T-Shirt
We are in the golden age of the T-shirt. But finding the best T-shirt is still a challenge. Here are a few tips to help you find “that” perfect T-shirt.

The most important thing to know when buying a T-shirt is what fabric it’s made of. It should be 100% cotton or cotton blended with one or more natural fibers, such as linen or cashmere, depending on your preferred texture. If you see terms like “nylon,” “acrylic,” or “polyester” on the label, think again. While these synthetic fabrics can extend the life of your garment (like plastics), they don’t promise quality or comfort. If possible, choose a fabric made from “long-staple cotton,” the best form of raw material.Cotton weight is usually measured in grams per square meter and has become the standard indicator of quality in the T-shirt market.
Another thing to consider when choosing a t-shirt is the collar shape and structure. We love classic round-neck t-shirts, but a V-neck is also a good idea. A V-neck can be used as underwear as it can be camouflaged under a t-shirt and pairs well with a jacket; however, it can look a bit plain on its own.
All the shirt collars I’ve mentioned so far have ribbed collars, which is exactly what you’re looking for if you don’t want your shirt to give out after a few washes (also known as “bacon neck”). In fact, this collar is perhaps the most basic indicator of quality. If a shirt collar feels good to you, the rest of the shirt probably will too.
