Stress is a part of our lives and when it is moderate it can even be beneficial. However, excessive stress negatively affects life and harms human life to the extent that it causes health problems.
Here are some ways to cope with stress:
- Keep your diet under control. Don’t overeat. Don’t increase your alcohol and food consumption to reduce stress. Although this may provide momentary relief from stress, it can cause you to experience different addictions over time.
- You can’t say ‘Yes’ to everything. You can’t always meet the expectations and demands of others. Learn to say ‘No’ when necessary.
- Quit smoking. Smoking triggers stress with the stimuli it contains.
- Exercise regularly. Start with low-intensity exercises, especially walking. This will make you feel better.
- Make sure you take time to relax every day.
- Know your responsibilities that you can control and do.
- Try to reduce the causes of your stress.
- Set realistic goals and expectations. You may not be able to do everything 100% at once. Let go of your perception of perfection.
- Get enough rest. You cannot combat stress without resting with a proper diet and exercise.
- A positive attitude boosts your self-esteem and is a good defense against stress.
- Try to be flexible.
- Try to reduce your caffeine intake.
