Although it has recently become popular again, kombucha is actually a very old drink. It is thought to have originated in China 2,000 years ago. It is even rumored that Japanese samurai took Kombucha to the battlefield to gain energy.

Kombucha is not just a trendy drink; it also offers many health benefits.

• Strengthens the immune system: Being rich in probiotics, it supports the body’s natural defenses.

• Supports digestion: The fermented bacteria it contains balance the intestinal microbiota.

• Prevents digestive problems: Regular consumption can reduce the risk of some digestive system cancers, especially colorectal ones.

• Is a powerful antioxidant: Polyphenols and other antioxidants from tea fight oxidative stress and slow down cell aging.

• Natural and low in sugar: Since it contains much less sugar than classic colas, it offers a healthy alternative to overly sugary industrial drinks.

Although kombucha is natural and beneficial, it is not suitable for everyone. Individuals with a weak immune system and pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to stay away from homemade kombucha. Because if hygiene rules are not followed, fermentation at home can be contaminated with harmful microorganisms. Another issue to be careful about is oral health. Kombucha can weaken tooth enamel when consumed excessively or frequently due to its highly acidic structure. To reduce these effects, it is recommended to drink it with a straw and then rinse your mouth with water.
